ABOUT JURGENS SWISS BREAD CO.

Our story begins in a small outlet based in Cheltenham back in 1995 by a small group of bakers. After much progress Eduardo Rato decided to purchase Jurgens Swiss Bakery in 2003 and currently operates it as a family owned business.Mr Rato has 40 years of extensive business experience, having previously owned Bernard’s Bakery and also Tiago Poultry.

1st Generation

Eddie and Maria Rato have been in business for the last 40 years.

Since announcing their retirement, both are now enjoying their grandkids which will hopefully ensure a 3rd generation of Jurgens.

2nd Generation

Paul Sousa & Nelissa Sousa

Paul(son-in-law) and Nelissa(daughter) are actively involved in the success of Jurgens with the vision to continuously grow the current legacy and have acquired shares within Jurgens.Jurgens Swiss Bakery recently relocated to Dandenong, having built brand new facilities at South Park, Dandenong, in order to cater for our ongoing requirements to meet our client’s expectations.

At the moment Jurgens currently holds approximately 1000+ clients throughout Melbourne, with the idea of expanding the business into other avenues!

As of July 2015, Paul Sousa has taken ownership of Jurgens Swiss bread and will continue to strive for improved market strategies within the industry.
